Navigating the 4th Trimester

Postpartum plans need the same dedication as birth plans.
— All About Momme

This is the class that covers all things postpartum and gets you thinking about what life will be like in those first three months after you bring your baby home. Known as the fourth trimester, this is a period of enormous development for you and your baby. Your baby is learning to adapt to life outside of the womb without a constant food source, or the warmth and comfort of the womb. Whether it is your first or subsequent child you are both navigating breastfeeding (which is a learned art) and starting to become in tune with each other's cues. As a mother of three and after the birth of my third child I have realised that this time needs just as much preparation as the birth, especially if you have older children.

  • Newborn babies appearances

  • Newborn tests

  • Newborn bathing

  • Sleeping and breastfeeding (and what is normal for both)

  • Navigating the new you and your relationship

  • Signs and symptoms of Perinatal Anxiety and Depression

  •  Involving your older children and ways to fill their buckets

  • Building up your resources of local service providers in the community

  • Developing your Postpartum Plan (looking at who to ask for help, what they can do to help and thinking about what changes can we make around the house to navigate this new period)

At the end of this class you will have an understanding of what life will really look like when you bring your baby home. You’ll know local service providers to contact if you are experiencing difficulties as well as opportunities to meet other new parents in the community. All attendees receive a Postpartum Plan that will allow you to start thinking about what you can do now to prepare for this time and how you can utilise your own support networks. It will also give you a chance to talk to your partner about how you will nurture your relationship (which can unintentionally be on the back burner).

The cost for this class is $200.00
